These forced-upon-jobs for the long-unemployed were introduced in 2004 during the term of social democrat chancellor Schroeder. For a minimal salary these workers often do the same job side by side with colleagues who are regularly employed and paid. The passages in apostrophs above were arguments presented then justifying those one-euro-jobs.
